Pre-season testing for the FIM Enel MotoE World Cup’s sophomore campaign gets underway today for the start of six days of on-track action ahead of the season-opener.
Three days of testing are scheduled at Jerez for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday this week, ahead of a second test at the same track on April 8-10.
This will set the field up for seven races across five weekends throughout the year, held at Jerez, Assen, Red Bull Ring, Misano and Valencia, although this schedule could be impacted by Covid-19, which has already caused disruption and cancelation for MotoGP events.
All 18 full-season competitors are taking part in this week’s test, which consists of three 30-minute sessions each day, beginning at 10 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.
It’s understood that teams will use this week’s test to get to grips with a new front and rear tires from Michelin, a new Ohlins front fork and an upgraded charging system from Enel.
MotoE is sharing the event with FIM CEV Repsol and the Spanish Superbike Championship.
This test last year was the site of a massive fire that engulfed much of the paddock in flames and caused a delay to the start of the season.
