Former Formula E driver Nico Prost will return to the Trophee Andros this winter, driving a Renault Zoe for DA Racing.
The 38-year-old, who competed in the first four seasons of the ABB FIA Formula E Championship with Renault e.dams, has been confirmed as DA Racing’s second driver alongside four-time Trophee Andros champion Jean-Baptiste Dubourg.
The pair are the first two drivers confirmed for this winter’s edition of the French ice racing championship, which will have a fully electric top class for the first time.
It ran a combination of electric and ICE cars in the Elite Pro category last season, with one of the three electric cars driven by Prost.
DA Racing’s cars are based the Renault Zoe road car, a five-door electric supermini that has become one of Europe’s best selling EVs.
“I am very happy and motivated to join DA Racing in this new and ambitious project,” said Prost.
“It’s a pleasure to return to Renault and I’m sure to make the electric Zoe shine!”
Prost’s teammate Dubourg expressed his excitement at Prost joining the team. It will be Dubourg’s first time competing with electric machinery in Trophee Andros.
“I am very happy to welcome Nico again as teammate to the team,” he said. “We share common values such as team spirit, fighting spirit and honesty.
“His successful experience in electrical technology makes him a major asset.”
The season will get underway at Val Thorens on Dec. 7-8 for the first of six events, with the season coming to an end at Super Besse on Feb. 1.
