Bryan Sellers has become the second driver confirmed for the Jaguar I-PACE eTROPHY, with the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship regular to drive for Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing.

Sellers joins previously-announced Katherine Legge at RLL, completing the team’s lineup for the ABB FIA Formula E Championship support series.

The team is the first to commit to the championship, which will support Formula E throughout the 2018-19 season and will have its first test at Silverstone on Sept. 24-27.

“I’m very proud to be a part of Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing’s Jaguar I-PACE eTROPHY program,” said Bryan Sellers.

“I grew up in Ohio watching Bobby win races and build an incredible racing program and it will be nice to finally get to see it from the inside.

“Electric cars are clearly the way of the future and to be involved with the first electric production car racing series is very important to me, more so doing it with a brand as iconic as Jaguar makes it even more special.

“I’m also looking forward to getting to work with Katherine. We have had a great relationship over the years and it will be nice to finally get to work together instead of head to head.

“I’m very thankful to everyone at RLL and Jaguar for giving me this opportunity.”

Sellers currently leads the WeatherTech Championship’s GT Daytona class standings alongside teammate Madison Snow, while Legge is second with two races remaining.

“I have known Bryan quite some time and have been impressed with his ability and approach,” said Bobby Rahal, co-owner of RLL.

“The demands of this series will put a premium on pace of course, but even more so on experience.

“There will not be a lot of practice time and there are other restrictions that you wouldn’t normally see so experience, maturity and pace are very important qualities that I was looking for when we chose our driver lineup.

“Bryan will be an asset to our program.”

Great to see an all-IMSA line-up (RLL, Legge, and now Sellers) going racing in this new series. I wish them all the best of luck!

    Any IMSA race conflicts?

Looking at the 2018-19 Formula E schedule (which I-PACE eTROPHY will support), it appears Race #3 is going to be held on January 26th (location “TBD”), which is right in the middle of the IMSA 24h of Daytona weekend. Not sure what this would mean for Bryan or Katherine.

I didn’t see any other glaring conflicts (though Katherine and Bryan will surely be racking up the frequent flier miles!), but I hope this doesn’t mean that either of them will be missing IMSA races in 2019!

Racing a lumbering SUV in tight confines…i dont know how entertaining that would be. I would have to check it out. At least the drivers are well protected.

We really want to see Sellers in a flagship factory effort.
