Former Jaguar Formula E driver Adam Carroll will replace Stefan Rzadzinski at the TWR Techeetah team for Saturday’s Jaguar I-PACE eTROPHY race in Berlin.
The ex-BAR Formula 1 test driver and 2008-9 A1 Grand Prix champion is arriving as a last-minute replacement after Rzadzinski’s deal came to an end recently.
E-racing365 understands that Rzadzinski, who has contested all seven rounds of the spec I-PACE series so far, travelled to Berlin and will be on-site this weekend.
Northern Irish racer Carroll was part of Panasonic Jaguar Racing’s inaugural Formula E campaign in 2016-17 when he partnered Mitch Evans.
He was replaced for the 2017-8 Formula E season by Nelson Piquet Jr and has since gone on to compete in the UK-based GT Cup and Ferrari Challenge competitions.
TWR Techeetah entered the current I-PACE eTROPHY season with a single car at the 11th hour, on the eve of the opening race in Ad Diriyah in December.
Since then, Rzadzinski has claimed a best result of second place in the shortened Paris round last month and currently lies sixth in the points standings.
The Canadian was given a post-race penalty at the Monaco race two weeks ago for his part in an incident that eliminated Katherine Legge’s Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing car.
“Adam brings a wealth of experience to the team and we are looking forward to seeing what he can do in this highly competitive Jaguar I-PACE eTROPHY Championship,” said team principal Keith Smout.
“We’d like to thank departing driver Stefan Rzadzinski for the role he played in delivering our first podiums in the series and wish him the very best for the future.”
Carroll added: “I’m excited to be back in electric racing, having played a key role in the development of Jaguar’s Formula E car when they entered the series.
“It is an honor to drive for such an iconic team as TWR, and I can’t wait to show what I can do in the Jaguar I-PACE.”
