Miba AG, one of the leading strategic partners of the international engine and automotive industry, will join forces with the NIO Formula E Team for the forthcoming 2018 Zurich E-Prix all-electric racing event.

Miba’s partnership with the NIO ABB FIA Formula E Championship team forms part of a global marketing strategy to achieve its vision of becoming a global leader in its specialist area within the EV industry, linked to its core mission “Innovation in Motion – Technologies for a Cleaner Planet.”

Founded in Austria in 1927, Miba is a global company with over 7,000 staff, situated across 23 production sites around the world, and an annual revenue of €888 million ($1.03 billion).

Its product portfolio includes sintered components, engine bearings, friction materials, power electronics components, coatings and special machinery.

Miba technologies make motor vehicles, trains, ships, aircraft and power plants more efficient, more reliable and more environmentally friendly – making it a globally leading partner of choice to its customers across their development and production.

Based on Miba’s corporate vision “No powertrain without Miba technology”, Miba develops and produces life critical components for every drivetrain technology.

A key focus of the company today is the development of solutions for electric and hybrid vehicles. The company currently supplies resistors to NIO for vehicle production at its manufacturing plants in China.

The inaugural Zurich E-Prix will take place on June 10 where the NIO Formula E Team will feature Miba branding on its NIO 003 race cars driven by Oliver Turvey (No. 16) and Luca Filippi (No. 68).

In addition, NIO will provide the opportunity for a Miba student placement within its Advanced Engineering department at the ‘Centre for Innovation & Enterprise’ at the Begbroke Science Park near Oxford, UK.

“The development and production of technologies for hybrid and electric vehicles is a key strategic focus of Miba,” commented F. Peter Mitterbauer, MIBA CEO.

“We can offer a wide range of technologies for e-mobility. I am delighted not only to be a supplier of our customer NIO, but to join forces also with their Formula E team.”
