Frederic Makowiecki and James Rossiter will test for the Techeetah Formula E team in Marrakesh next month.

The experienced racers will join the Chinese team for a full day of running at the championship’s Rookie Test day on Jan. 14 at the Circuit International Automobile Moulay El Hassan.

Porsche factory driver Makowiecki – who has a role as a favored test driver for the championship’s technical partner Michelin – has experience behind the wheel of the current Formula E car, as well as the new model set to be introduced for season five.

The 37-year-old Frenchman has not competed in single-seater racing since finishing fourth in the 2000 French Formula 3 Championship. Since that season, he has competed mostly in endurance racing, holding factory positions with Aston Martin and Porsche.

Makowiecki will run the test in Jean-Eric Vergne’s No.25 Renault-powered Techeetah car.

“I am very happy that Techeetah has given me the chance to try a Formula E car during Rookie Test in Marrakesh,” said Makowiecki.

“I’ve followed the championship from the beginning as I am interested by new technology and strategy. The show on track is always great too.

“It will be a new experience and I can’t wait to jump in car Marrakesh.”

Rossiter has tested a Formula E car on two separate occasions. He got his first run at the Berlin E-Prix last June during some demonstration laps, and the current Super Formula driver then took part in the official pre-season test in Valencia with the Venturi team.

Rossiter is a close friend of Techeetah race driver Andre Lotterer, and will test in the German’s car in Morocco.

“I’m very grateful for the opportunity to work with Techeetah for the Formula E Rookie Test in Marrakesh,” commented Rossiter.

“I’m really looking forward to getting on track and working together with the team.”
