This weekend’s Marrakesh E-Prix will run to a slightly altered schedule with Free Practice 1 on Friday afternoon, although no changes have been made to the circuit layout.
The first session of the weekend will now take place on Friday at 4:45 p.m. for 45 minutes, instead of its usual Saturday morning slot.
The change has been made because of the late sunrise time in the Moroccan city, which caused a low-visibility FP1 session last year with cars going out on track before sunrise.
Sunrise this Saturday will take place at 7:59 a.m.
Shakedown will be held a couple of hours before FP1, for 15 minutes beginning at 2 p.m. on Friday.
The remainder of Saturday’s sessions will run one hour earlier than usual, with FP2 at 9 a.m. local time, qualifying at 11 a.m. and the race at 3 p.m.
Morocco uses the same timezone as western/central Europe, putting the race start at 9 a.m. EST and 2 p.m. GMT.
No changes have been made to the circuit layout for the first time since November’s Diriyah E-Prix, following major overhauls to the Santiago and Mexico City tracks this year.
Marrakesh’s Circuit International Automobile Moulay El Hassan is a semi-permanent street circuit and is used for other events besides Formula E, but doesn’t have some of the characteristics of other Formula E tracks that have been changed this season.
It has three small chicanes, but none of them are particularly tight and are therefore unlikely to cause major incidents that have been avoided with alterations to other tracks earlier this year.
