Mitch Evans set the pace for Panasonic Jaguar Racing in the opening practice session ahead of the Berlin E-Prix on Friday afternoon.
The Kiwi lapped the Tempelhof Airport circuit in 1:08.162 to top the timesheets by just 0.066 seconds ahead of the pair of Venturi drivers, Edoardo Mortara and Stoffel Vandoorne.
Mortara’s best time put him second, while Vandoorne was third in his Venturi VFE05.
Sebastien Buemi placed fourth for Nissan e.dams, with Alex Lynn fifth in the other Jaguar I-Type 3.
The top 19 drivers set lap times within one second of each other, with only Jean-Eric Vergne, Felipe Massa and Gary Paffett failing to match the rest of the field.
No major incidents took place during the 45-minute session, which ran green throughout, apart from for a brief Full Course Yellow exercise.
Free Practice 2 is scheduled for 6 p.m. local time (12 p.m. EDT), closing out Friday’s on-track action.
