NIO has confirmed that Jamie Chadwick will return for her second test behind the wheel of the team’s ABB FIA Formula E car in Marrakesh.
The 20-year-old Brit first sampled the NIO Sport 004 Gen 2 car during the first test of the season in Saudi Arabia, but her seat time was limited because of mechanical problems.
Chadwick becomes the ninth driver to be confirmed for the Marrakesh rookie session, which takes place a day after the second Season Five E-Prix on Jan. 13.
“After a somewhat reduced test event program in Saudi Arabia due to a technical issue beyond our control, I am obviously very pleased to extend the opportunity for Jamie to test with us once again,” said NIO team principal Gerry Hughes.
“This is obviously a case of ‘same car, different testing environment’ but one that I know she will relish and it will be very interesting to witness her progress during the day.”
Chadwick, who was a race winner in British Formula 3 last year, said she was “thrilled” to been given a second test opportunity with NIO.
“I loved every minute of the first test in Riyadh and now I am acclimatized to the car, I am confident that we can have a successful test,” she said.
“Once again, a huge thank you to Gerry and the team for giving me the opportunity. I cannot wait.”
