Andretti Formula E has been required to change the monocoque on one of Antonio Felix da Costa’s cars ahead of today’s ABB FIA Formula E Championship Santiago E-Prix.
Da Costa’s ‘red’ designated car failed pre-event technical checks after what is believed to have been an unsatisfactory repair.
As a result, FIA technical delegate Carlos Funes refused to pass the car at pre-event scrutineering.
The offence relates to the monocoque of chassis 043 which was repaired after the qualifying accident da Costa suffered at the last event in Marrakesh.
The team repaired the car which then went on to claim a 14th place finish in the race.
A team spokesperson said only that “the FIA instructed us to change the tub after technical checks”.
The rebuilt car will go through the scrutineering process again ahead of the first practice session at the track this morning which gets underway at 8 a.m. local time.
Andretti also received a fine of €500 ($623) for a separate matter relating to its team manager not adhering to an official summons from the stewards.
