Electric GT Holdings Inc. completed a successful eKarting test at Circuit Pau-Arnos on Thursday with three drivers testing the championship’s electric kart.
Billy Jack Smith, Tom Turschwel and Felix Yeung were on hand to drive the eKart, which is capable of reaching 150 k/mh (93 mph) and can accelerate from 0-100 km (0-62 mph) in 3.1 seconds.
The test took place at Pau-Arnos in southwestern France on Thursday, with 100 km (62 miles) of completed under the supervision of technical director Agustin Paya.
The eKarting series is set to commence later this year, and will have drivers in two categories, for those aged 13-15 and over 15.
Twenty drivers will race the karts, competing to secure a race seat in the Tesla Model S EGT P100D which will run in the Electric Production Car Series,
“This is a very important day for the final testing of our all-electric kart,” Paya said.
“We believe that we have produced the best eKart out there and it’s been terrific to see some really talented young drivers push it to the limit today.
“It has also been enlightening to see these stars of the future take to the track here at our headquarters at Pau E-Circuit, not just because they want to show what they can do, but because they see the huge opportunity that this Series presents for a future in competitive, exciting and sustainable motorsport.”
