Porsche has set a new lap record on the Nürburgring Nordschleife for four-door electric sports cars with its new Taycan road car.

Test driver Lars Kern logged a time of 7:42 with Taycan as the third achievement in a multi-part test demonstrating the Taycan’s abilities.

Previously, the car showcased the reproducibility of its performance by completing 26 successive acceleration runs from 0-200 km/h (0-124 mph), before completing 3425 km (2128 miles) in 24 hours at Nardo without any issues.

“The Taycan mastered its Triple Endurance Run superbly,” said Stefan Weckback, vice president Taycan product line.

“Numerous factors contribute to this performance and the efficiency of the powertrain, also at high speeds. These include the chassis systems that react within a fraction of a second as well as the outstanding aerodynamics.”

Added Kern, the driver challenged with the Taycan’s recent Nürburgring record: “The Taycan is also suitable for race tracks and it convincingly proved that here on the world’s most challenging circuit.

“Again and again, I am impressed at how stable the all-electric sports car handles in high-speed sections, such as Kesselchen, and how neutrally it accelerates from tight sections, such as Adenauer Forst.”
