NIO Launches ES6 Midsize Electric SUV

NIO has taken the wraps off its all-new midsize electric SUV, the ES6, as the latest vehicle to join the Chinese automaker’s rapidly expanding lineup.

The unveil came on Saturday during its annual ‘NIO Day’ at the Shanghai Oriental Sports Center.

The high-performance long-range SUV, which features 4.7-second 0-62 mph acceleration and a range of more than 315 miles, will go on sale in June at a starting price of 358,000 yuan ($52,000).

According to the automaker, the ES6 “expands the design language of the NIO product line with a stylish and sporty exterior plus a refined, high-tech interior.”

The ES6, which joins the EP9 supercar and full-sized ES8 SUV in its all-electric lineup, will be offered in Standard and Performance versions, with customers able to now pre-order the vehicle through the NIO app.

Nearly 10,000 of the NIO ES8 SUVs, meanwhile, have been delivered, with upgrades to the latest 84 kWh battery system to become available in the second half of next year.

NIO also confirmed that its major service systems, including NIO House, NIO Service and NIO Power, will also all be upgraded.

“The ES6 launch and the NIO Day have set another NIO community milestone.”
