Daniel Abt topped the time charts in Free Practice 2, as fog has rolled into Marrakesh.
The Audi Sport Abt Schaeffler driver reeled off a 1:19.760 in his Audi e-tron FE04, outpacing teammate Lucas di Grassi by 0.138 seconds.
Sebastien Buemi was third quickest, with the pair of Panasonic Jaguar Racing entries of Mitch Evans and Nelson Piquet Jr. completing the top-five, respectively.
The 30-minute session saw a flurry of improvements in the closing moments, with seven drivers smashing di Grassi’s pace-setting 1:20.310 lap time from FP1.
It included Jose Maria Lopez, in his first race for Dragon Racing, who put the Penske EV-2 seventh on the time sheets, marking an impressive rebound from the American team’s disastrous outing in Hong Kong.
All 20 cars, meanwhile, broke Felix Rosenqvist’s track qualifying record from last year.
Rosenqvist was among a half-dozen drivers to have brake lock-ups in the session, with the Swede going straight off into the Turn 7 run-off area early in the running.
Jean-Eric Vergne and Antonio Felix da Costa also minor brake-related dramas, with Piquet brushing the wall in the closing stages.
The story of the session, however, was the fog, which descended upon Circuit Moulay El Hassan, causing slight visibility issues and periods of light mist.
Qualifying is scheduled to get underway at 12 p.m., followed by Super Pole at 12:45 p.m. local time.
